My Online Business Toolkit

Below are some of the tools, products or other resources I use to keep the wheels turning, or recommend to help you along the way to success.

Some of these may be affiliate links which I would appreciate you using should you decide to buy these.

I will be updating this page so check back from time to time.

PRODUCTIVITY

Note taking & organisation

OneNote

OMG! I this is an incredibly useful digital notebook system which I use for everything; ideas, rough notes, web clippings & structured documents. And the best part is that it is FREE.

Onenote allows me to take notes and organise my thoughts in a searchable cloud-based system which I can access from all my devices; mobile (ios and android), and desktop (windows & mac)

On a side note, Evernote is also an option which I have used. It has a free and paid option with some more features but I settled on OneNote as it does what I need.

Project Management

Trello

Trello is a multi-platform system that allows you to arrange projects into “boards”. Each board has multiple cards which you or your team members can move along to different stages, giving everyone visual indication of where you are in the process.

It is free with the option of paid extras called “powerups”, which adds more functionality. It’s multi-platform & cloud-based and accessible for collaborations.

CONTENT MARKETING

YouTube Tool

vidIQ

I primarily use this for insights and analytics data as well as content research but it has way more if you need it.

vidIQ can help you grow and manage your youtube channel faster by allowing you to get additional functionality not offered by YouTube.

Find it at viIQ.com

Video Production

ScreenFlow

Screenflow is an easy way to screen record on my Mac and edit the video in one application. It has great features for overlays and call to actions such as arrows and other teaching tools.

An alternative on both windows and mac is Camtasia.

Email Marketing

Newsletter & list-building

MailChimp, Aweber & Mautic

MailChimp is the easiest way to start a mailing list as it is free up to a point and comes with automation at the free level. Aweber is a great paid alternative where I also have an account.

Mautic is an open-source, self-hosted solution for not just email marketing but full marketing automation for free. It does require lots of technical setup so not the easiest. There is however a paid hosted version.

Check out each at mailchimp.com, aweber.com & mautic.org (or .com)

WEBSITE

Content Manager

WordPress

WordPress is my go-to for building out my websites and managing my content. It gives me all the control that I need and no matter what you need on top, there’s bound to be a plugin or addon that gives you the additional functionality.

Its well supported as an open source platform and powers allot of big websites from companies such as BBC, Disney & Sony.

All my websites are on the self-hosted version of WordPress  (wordpress.org) but you can have it hosted as well (wordpress.com)

WEBSITE HOSTING
