When designing a website, user experience should be at the forefront of everything as it can mean the difference between a successful website vs one that is a let down.

Oftentimes clients and inexperienced designers focus on the look of a website and do not pay as much attention to user experience. After the website is launched, it may look good, but difficult to use and frustrated the users.

Good user experience is different for everyone

Good website user experience or UX design is one where the needs and expectations of the target users are aligned in such a way that everything seems effortless to the user.

However, this is going to vary depending on who the end user is. We are all different people with different expectations, preferences and needs. It is therefore important to get a clear understanding of who the target user will be.

Create personas for UX

The best way to figure out what’s most important is to create personas for user profiles for your website. These are basically where you outline a particular type of person by documenting as much about them as you can as it relates to why they are using your site.

You may have 2 to three different personas that you either create from your best intelligence on who will use your site, or you may base it on a real customer or user you already have interacted with.

Highlight anything of importance in terms of their specific needs, expectations, goals, and habits. These are all things that can help you tailor the UX for them.

How good UX can benefit your business

Let’s take a look at some reasons how good website user experience can help your business get better results.

1 – Increased conversions

With good UX, people are more likely to take action and follow through with what you want them to do on your website. This could mean more email signups or more sales.

2 – Good UX helps you beat the competition

If your website is more pleasurable to use and users get the results they want and your competitor’s website frustrates them, you are going to get the business more often than not.

3 – Good user experience keeps users on your website for longer

The longer users stay on your site the better as it shows that they are interested in what you offer and are more likely to connect with your brand and build trust.

Good design is everything

When it comes to user experience, good design is more than just how something looks, but also about the functionality.

Take the time to map out the user flow for each aspect of your website. This is going to help you determine what to have in place so that you can create an outstanding user experience that keeps users coming back for more.
